"How
to Write Articles"
Okay, so I've
managed to convince you that writing articles is a good thing. In fact,
if you are on the Internet you really need to be writing articles.
But, now that
you are ready to get started you have no idea how to go about writing
your article.
I know, you are
probably thinking that this is going to be like pulling teeth, you may
have a vision of long hard hours being spent as you hammer out your articles
one painful keystroke at a time.
Well, it does
not have to be that way!
I used to really
loathe writing, but then I came across "Hypnotic
Writing" by Joe Vitale.
This book taught
me the right way to write, and now my writing is easy and even enjoyable.
I've also included
one of Joe Vitales
Hypnotic
Writing tips from his book below to get you started.
I use this for
all of my writing, including what you are reading now.
I find it frees
my mind and I can quickly bang out an article that is of a higher quality
compared to the old way I used to write.
The
correct way to write articles
When people
write, they often find that they get writers block, or they cannot get
into the flow of writing articles. The main reason for this is that they
are trying to edit their work as they write it.
This is
the wrong way to go about it, as they cannot get into the flow of writing.
However,
I'm sure if you try the following technique, you will find writing articles
is a breeze.
1.
Think of what you want to write
Before you
start writing, think of the subject you want to write about, mull it over
in your mind for a couple of hours and write down any ideas that pop out
of your mind on a piece of paper.
Take as
long as you need. Let your subconscious work on the article while you
do other things.
Can you
see the article taking shape in your mind? Can you see the dot points
you are going to write about?
Great! You
are ready for the next stage.
2.
Write the article, fire the editor
Once you
have all those ideas down on paper, it's time to sit down and write the
article. Just write everything that comes to mind, get it down on paper,
but don't edit it!
Don't worry
about if your writing is grammatically correct or if it contains spelling
errors.
Don't even
worry if your paragraphs are out of order!
The important
thing is to brain dump everything and get it on paper.
This step
is important as it allows your mind to dump everything it has been thinking
about without being interrupted by the editor.
Got the
Article written? Great! Let's move on.
3.
Refine your article (Time to Edit)
Once the Brain Dump
is complete it's time to get your editor working on it.
The first
thing to do is read your article and re-order the paragraphs. Once this
is done you should have a pretty good outline of your article.
Next, read
your article out loud and correct grammar and spelling mistakes, delete
sentences, add words, and move around paragraphs. Wow! It's now coming
together.
Get somebody
else to read your article and refine your article based on their feedback.
4.
Walk away from your article
Good work,
you have a refined masterpiece. It's time to walk away and do something
else for a while. Why not watch a movie and relax a bit. This wil lcreate
a bit of distance between you and your article.
After you have relaxed
for a few hours (preferably overnight) come back a read your article out
loud again.
How does
the article sound? Does it make sense? Does it deliver the message you
wanted? If not, continue editing your article until you are happy with
it.
Wait! Don't publish
your article yet, there is another step you need to take which most people
overlook.
5.
Optimise the Article.
Note:
I'm not going to go into the actual techniques I use for keyword research
and article optimisation here, but it is covered in my free e-course.
After you
have refined your article, you need to ensure that the article is optimised
for the keywords you are targetting.
To optimise
your article make sure you include the following:
- You keyword
needs to appear in the article title
- Your keyword
needs to appear in the article summary
- The article
body needs to have a keyword density of between 1% and 3%.
- Your keyword
needs to appear in the resource box and it's even better if a hyperlink
contains your keyword.
This article
only touches the surface of Article Writing and has hopefully wetted your
appetite.
However, it does
not stop there. I am offering you a free 15 week e-course that goes into
this subject in depth and will guide you through the article writing process
step-by-step.
